Refractory Quality Assurance

RefracTech offers quality assurance services to ensure manufacturing and material specification compliance prior the the shipment of the refractory materials to your project site.  Our engineer will coordinate inspections with your refractory supplier and travel to the manufacturing location to perform the appropriate quality testing.  This avoids potential vendor warranty issues and other project delays that may be realized if poor quality materials are identified during installation.  Pre-shipment quality control measures include:

  • Review and verification of the manufacturer's production methods and quality control procedures.
  • Pre-assembly inspections and measurements of critical refractory assemblies.
  • Sample selection and measurements of complex refractory shapes.
  • Review of material testing results and specification compliance.
  • Observation of all refractory materials ready for shipment, including packaging and labeling requirements to promote damage-free shipments and job site efficiency.
  • Disposition of any refractory supply deviation requests.
  • Final quality report for client acceptance prior to delivery authorization.

Refractory Lining Inspections

RefracTech will inspect new and existing refractory linings at your facility during planned and unplanned unit outages.  We will coordinate with local staff to achieve the following:

  • Review operating history of the refractory lining and any past performance concerns.
  • Provide detailed measurements and observations of the refractory lining condition.  Refractory scanning may be considered for detailed reporting and analyses.
  • Analyze and discuss any observed refractory failures or related issues with your team.
  • Help your staff to identify and communicate work scope to the refractory installer.
  • Delivery a refractory inspection report to communicate and document the refractory performance, as well as any maintenance requirements and future material or design revisions for consideration.
